Leslie Lamberson

Dr. Leslie Lamberson is a Ben L. Fryrear Endowed Chair for Innovation and Excellence and Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines. She earned her B.S. in Aerospace Engineering and B.A. in Dance from the University of Michigan, an M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, a Ph.D. in Aeronautics from the California Institute of Technology, and an M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School. Her research focuses on impact mechanics and the dynamic behavior of materials, developing advanced optical metrology and inverse methods to probe deformation and failure in protective and aerospace systems. A recipient of the ONR Young Investigator and NSF CAREER Awards, Dr. Lamberson’s career spans industry, government, and academia, including prior roles at Lockheed Martin “Skunk Works,” NASA Glenn Research Center, and Johns Hopkins University. She currently serves as an Associate Editor for Strain and on the Advisory Board of the Journal of Dynamic Behavior of Materials.
